November 12 Meeting…

From the Desk of Karen Kaspar, President LOC SWF

Dear Ladies of Charity SWF,

Once again, your generosity is overwhelming!  Thank you so much to all of you who brought diapers, clothing and other baby items to our November meeting. All the items are already at the Community Pregnancy Clinics—doing good for all those mothers and babies.

Thank you, too, to all of you who brought the bags of Thanksgiving food items that we will take to Naples Park on Tuesday, November 16. You should see the hallway in my house! You can only walk in a single file line to get through it!!

And finally, on behalf of Carol Roettele and Carol Poston, thank you to all the ladies who stayed after class to finish assembling the ornaments for the sneaker trees. That is a big—and sometimes frustrating—job!

What an inspiring group of women you are!

Gargiulo Summer Outreach

This year our summer outreach for the students at Gargiulo Education Center was a different and wonderful opportunity for our members to put together practical and fun items for the 66 students to use & enjoy.

The leadership team of Ginger Craven, Alison Beckett, Julie English, and Carole Mancini helped our members navigate the very different pandemic-necessitated gathering, dropping-off, and delivering procedures.

Ginger, Alison, Julie, & Ginger‘s husband, Dick, set up the time for members to meet in the parking lot of St. John the Evangelist Church to drop off their bags. Braving the very hot sun, they transferred the contents of those 66 bags into see-through, cellophane bags—all tied up with a ribbon!

On the designated delivery day, Ginger & LOC SWF member, Sharon Gammell met Mary Asta, Gargiulo Education Center Executive Director and placed the bags in the cheery, designated storage spot!

While we weren’t able to see the children’s faces when they received the bags, we are most grateful for the opportunity to surprise the kids with a bag of caring.

Welcome!

It has been a different and difficult year for us all. To keep everyone safe as we navigated our paths, we’ve had to adjust to ministries on lockdown, masks, social distancing, vaccinations, and Zoom meetings. We’ve managed to meet, work, laugh, and tackle technical glitches with the daily hope we would soon resume our volunteering. Well, we’re not quite there, but

TO THIS…

With hope and great timing, on May 14, 2021, we held our end of the year luncheon outdoors—each of us filled with joy to see one another…in person! Coincidentally, the CDC updated the mask and social distancing guidelines for fully vaccinated persons—just the day before. The relief was palpable.

We are so very grateful to have had this time together…Zooming and lunching! We joyfully look forward to the resumption of our volunteering, to new opportunities to serve—all with a deep appreciation for all the blessings God has given us!
